HUSSAIN SAGAR: Hussain Sagar Lake located in the heart of the city is the oldest excavated lake in the city came into existence even before Hyderabad was built. The largest monolithic statue, 18 meters high of the lord Buddha was erected on Rock of Gibraltar in the lake that can be reached by ferries. The Tank Bund is also lined with 33 statues of famous personalities.

This beautiful entertainment park is situated on the shore of Hussiansagar Lake. The name comes as the park is right across the Buddha Statue & is within the Buddha Poornima Project. The landscaping here is a visual treat. A large floral clock at the entrance greets visitors & there is a musical fountain that enthralls.

A 48 seater launch is available on hire for organising exclusive dinner parties at Rs.1,500/- for two hours in the evenings. People can bring their own food by paying Rs.20/-per head as service charges. Boats are available for film shooting at Rs.2,500/-per hour for 48 seater boat; Rs.5,000/-per day for 4 seater speed boat;Rs.3,000/- per day for water scooter (fuel charges extra); A 50 Seater Mechanised Boat available for Hire per 2 hours for Rs.2,000/-.

Two cruises were introduced over the last two years:

(i)Bhageerathi Pleasure Cruiser: It was the first pleasure cruiser on the Hussainsagar Lake in Hyderabad which was launched in November 2000. It was named after the mother of the founder of the city of Hyderabad, Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah. It was during the reign of Mohammed Qulis father Ibrahim that the Hussiansagar was excavated. Bhageerathi was a princess of the Vijayanagar Empire.

Highlights: 

  • Seating capacity of 125 people;26 metre length & 6 metre.

  • Well lit for ambience as well as stage lighting. Stage for performing cultural programme (8 X 12) with a green room.

  • Sophisticated music system.Pantry for serving snacks, with a refrigerator, bottle cooler, coffee/tea vending machine & a microwave oven.

  • Fire Fighting & Life Saving equipment.

  • Multi compartmental vessel with four watertight bulkheads making it extra safe. Security & Rescue personnel on duty.

  • Cruise speed of 5 knots, takes an hour to go round the lake, providing a rare scenic splendor.

  • Regular trips with duration of one hour each.

Fare:- Adult: Rs.50/- Child: Rs.30/-. Charter charges: Rs.3000/- for 2 hours between 11.00 am & 4.00 pm; Rs.5000/- for 2.1/2 hours between 8.30 pm & 11.00 pm; Rs.1250/- for every extra hour. (ii) Bhagmati Luxury Cruiser: Beautifully & aesthetically designed, 26 metres long & 6 metres wide Luxury Cruiser was named after the consort of Mohammed Quli. It was love for Bhagmati that inspired Mohammed Quli to build the city of Hyderabad in 1591,while ruling from Golconda.

Corporation introduced a better & larger cruiser Bhagmati after the popularity of Bhageerathi. Bhagmati, a state-of-the-art, twin-deck pleasure cruiser has an air-conditioned restaurant with a pub serving beer on the main deck. The top deck with two sides open, has a stage for cultural programmes & is fitted with the latest Bose music system. Daily cultural shows add to the ambience.

Main Deck: Well furnished, air-conditioned restaurant with a seating capacity of 60 persons.
See-through glass windows on all sides for a paroramic view of the lake.
