Situated 208 kms from Hyderabad . Legend has it that during the 11th Century AD, ite Odderas, who carted the construction stones for the construction of the alampur Temple , camped at Kurnool before crossing the river Tungabhadra. The historic Konda Reddy frot is located in the heart of Kurnool . This has an underground hidden pathway (swarang) of about 25 km to Alampur (a neighbouring) town). Other places to see in and around Kurnool are Gol Gumbaz, Church, Sjordo Sao Baba Temple and Jagannath Guta.

Ahobilam : Located 160 kms from Kurnool , the temple of Lord Narasimha Swamy , has special significance. It is only here that all 9 forms of the deity or “Nava Narasimhas” are worshipped.

Belum Caves : Situated 110 kms from Kurnool , near Belum village, these are one of the longest cave systems in the plains of India and the second largest natural caves systems in the Indian subcontinent. The cave is horizontal after descent of 20 metres in the opening Inside there are spectacular chambers, passages, stalagmites and stalactites, fresh water galleries and siphons. Belum caves are brilliantly illuminated by A.P. Tourism creaming a spectacular effect. They have been adjudged as a “Unique Eco-Tourism project” by the Government of India.

Mahanandi : Situated at a distance of 80 kms from Kurnool and 14 km from Nandyal it is a noted pilgrimage centre. Mahanandi is surrounded by dense forests and is famous for the Mahanandeeshwara. Temple that dates back to the 7th century. The remarkable feature here is the crystal clear water which flows throughout the year from perennial springs. Other places of interest are Pushkarini, a pond with water so pure that even a pin at the bottom can be seen.

Oravakallu : Oravakallu is a miniature grand canyon, located 60 km from Kurnool , filled with water bodies sandwiched between exotic rock formations. Experience pure bliss lazing around and gazing at nature's architecture, untouched by man. A true adventure and it is right next door. Oravakallu has everything that makes for a perfect picnic spot, with facilities provided by APTDC.

Mantrayalam : A road journey of about two hours from kurnool brings one to Mantrayalam on the banks of the River Tungabhadra. It was here that the Madhwa saint Sri Raghavendra attained “Samadhi” some three centuries ago. People belonging to various sects throng the temple throughout the year.
