Papikonda Wild Life Sanctuary : Amidst the fertile Godavari basin, this 591 Sq. Kms forest sanctuary has typical vegetation of the eastern ghats. Located 50 Kms from Rajahmundry , animals that can be spotted are Tiger, Panther, Gaur, Cheetal,

    

Chowsingha, Sam bar, Black Buck, Mouse Deer, Barking Deer, Sloth Bear, apart from Marsh Crocodile and a variety of birds. You can also enjoy a boat ride from Rajahmundry upstream on the river Godavari with packed lunch

Rampachodavaram : An exciting launch ride on river Godavari from Devipatnam takes you to the tribal villages of Gandipochama and Rampachodavaram. You can reach Rampachodavaram by road from Rajahmundry which is at a distance of 50 Kms. Here one can witness the traditional tribal dance, “Vela” performed by women dressed in bright attire. The dance is highly rhythmic accompanied by singing. Yet another tribal dance called Kommu is performed by men only, dressed in typical tribal attire with a head gear of horns.

     

While at Rampachodavaram, one can drive down to Marademalli just 20 Kms away, which is a little known hill station. The drive through the dense jungle is quite enjoyable and one can expect to encounter wild life. At marademalli coffee  and rubber plantations are cultivated by the tribals.

RAJAHMUNDRY : In east Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, 450 km from Hyderabad and 170 km from vijaywada, is located on the banks of River Godavari at the top of the Godavari River delta. Asia 's largest rail-cum-road bridge on the River Godavari linking Kovvur town and Rajahmundry is considered to be an engineering feat. The Dowleswaram bridge across the Godavari is seven kilometers south of Rajahmundry .
