WHAT
TO SEE INSIDE THE ASHRAM
'GANESHA
TEMPLE
: Standing
near the entrance of Prashanthi Nilayam, this is a popular shrine
where prayers are offered every morning. Before undertaking any new
task, devotees propitiate the elephant headed God as the remover of
all obstacles. He is considered to confer intelligence, prosperity
and protection
SUBRAMANIAM
SHRINE : Located
next to the
temple
of
Ganesha
, the shrine is dedicated to his younger brother, Lord Subramaniam,
who chief of the army of the Gods ..
GAYATRI
SHRINE : The
Goddess with five faces and ten hands, seated on a lotus, is the
presiding deity here. Considered the Mother of the Vedas, she has
the power to confer intelligence, wisdom, keen intellect, fluent
speech and overall protection. The temple was consecrated by Baba
during the Padhuka Mahotsava in October 1998.
SHIRDI
SAI BABA STATUE : Located
on the way to the Hospital from the Ashram, the attractive
seven-foot tall statue stands on an elevated rock more than ten feet
above the ground.
PRASHANTHI
MANDIR : A
two-storied granite structure, built in 1949, it has a Central
Prayer Hall flanked by rooms on either side with a 'verandah' in
front and a corridor in the rear. The walls on each side of the
altar have five symbols representing the unity of religions. Omkar
Suprabhatam at dawn, daily bhajans and spiritual activities are
conducted here. Baba gives interviews in the room behind the altar.
SAI
KULWANT HALL : A
spacious enclosure where the daily darshan as well as other
festivities take place, it can accommodate about 20,000 devotees
under a canopy. At the Northern entrance, Bhagawan consecrated
exquisitely carved marble statues of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and
Hanuman, on
30th September 1999
.
POORNACHANDRA
AUDITORIUM : This
imposing 80 X 50 mtrs hall can comfortably seat over 15,000 people
who gather here for Divine discourses, cultural programmes,
functions, conferences and Yagna during Dassera. The speciality of
the hall is its column less construction and the inspiring murals
and carvings of the Avatars, Saints, Seers and scenes from the
scriptures from all religions and times. Baba's
simple living quarters are located above the stage.
SARVA
DHARMA AIKYA STAMBHA : An
impressive 50-foot high pillar made of reinforced concrete, it
symbolises the unity of all religions. Located in the middle of a
garden to the West of the Sai Kulwant Hall, it was erected in 1975
on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the advent of the Avatar
and the World Conference of Sathya Sai Seva Organisations.
VATA
VRUL(SIIA (MEDITATION TREE) : This
Banyan Tree was planted in 1950 by Baba himself who then
materialised a thick metal plate inscribed with mystic markings and
placed it under the roots. It is believed to facilitate
concentration and enhance the spiritual success of those who
meditate under it. Devotees are allowed to meditate only during the
day times.
