Sri
Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences
One
of the primary aims of Baba’s missions is to make the best of
medical facilities available to the poor, free of cost. On the
occasion of his 65th birthday in 1990. He announced that within a
year a super speciality hospital would come up at Puttaparthi.
though the announcement was greeted with enthusiasm, everybody in
the gathering felt that it was an impossible desire. How could such
an ambitious project be completed in so short a time?

By
the grace of Baba, not only was the Sathya Sai Institute of Higher
Medical Sciences formally inaugurated on
November 22, 1991
, but complicated heart surgeries were performed on four poor
patients on that very day, without charging them a single rupee.
Located
about 6 kms from Prasanthi Nilayam, the hospital is housed in an
impressive nine, domed structure, which is an architectural marvel.
Every ear a day prior to Baba’s birthday, a new department has
been added. Today, it has world-clas facilities to handle cases in
Cardiology, Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, Urology,
Opthalmology and Plastic Surgery. A 24 hour Casualty department and
Out Patient Department also caters to the needs of the patients.

By
the beginning of 2004, the hospital has provided free medical
treatment to over 70,000
in patients and more than 10 lakhs out patients.
The
staff of the hospital, most of whom are voulnters, ishighly
motivated and committed to work with complete dedication. The
environment, suffused with love, hope and sanctified by divinity, is
extremely conducive to the process of the cure and keeps the
patients away from feelins of negativity.
The
National Board of Examinations of India has approved the institute
for training Post Graduate Diploma students of National Board (DNB)
in the specialities of Cardiology.
2001
also saw the start of Rs.250 crores state of the art

Speciality
Hospital
near Sri Sathya Sai Baba ashram of Whitefield in
Bangalore.

Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning
A
veritable temple to education, it adheres to the system of learning
and teaching envisaged by Baba. He has emphasised on the need for
education to build character and inculcate human values apart from
just academic excellence. As the Chancellor of the institute, Baba
provides constant guidance and direction in evolving the curriculum
and ensuring its implementation.
A
non-profit autonomous institution, it is recognised by the Ministry
of Education, Government of India, and the University Grants
Commission as a
Deemed
University
. Operating out of three campuses at Puttaparthi, Whitefield and
Ananthapur, the institute conducts under - graduate and post -
graduate courses in Arts, Science and Professional Studies.
The
campuses are located in quiet, peaceful surroundings which are not
only environmentally healthy but also stimulate learning as well as
the intellectual and emotional development of students. The
beautiful buildings are spacious and elegantly designed to be
pleasing to the eye. Residential accommodation is provided at
comfortable, fully equipped hostels.
Students
are exempted from payment of all fees such as tuition fees and fees
for laboratories, library, reading room, sports, audio-visual
facilities and extra-curricular activities. Healthcare and all
medical treatment are also provided free of cost.
The
central library holds an enormous collection of books and journals
from across the world, to facilitate the studies of the students.
Besides, a modern planetarium on the Prashanthi Nilayam campus
serves as an effective educational and multimedia training facility.
Apart
from this, there are a Primary and High School with hostel
facilities, where too, education is provided free of cost.
